OUR ETHOS is low numbers, rewilding and sustainability, so the woodland keeps its charm, entices new birds and wildlife so you get to truly immerse yourselves in nature.

There is always lots of rewilding activity on the River Camp, so the low numbers is a must for the health of the woodland, and we are proud to be part of WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) https://wwoof.net/.  If you were interested in volunteering, then please do let us know.

We do not allow foraging and wood for your Firepit is sold at cost.  We also ask that you do not move the logs around your pitch or use for firewood, as these are there for nurturing the wildlife.

We are situated in the amazing Brecon Beacons National Park, which is a Dark Sky Reserve, so we highly recommend some stargazing during your stay.

WILD CAMPING means we are suitable for two-man tents, backpackers, hammocks, bivies or lightweight tarps.  We have up to 14 pitches by the lake and in the woodland.  Our pitches vary in size and can take anything from one two-man tent up to a maximum of 6.  However, you will have your pitch all to yourself.

Immerse yourself in nature with as little as possible.  Log seats and firepits are dotted around the woodland and we ask that you tread carefully to keep it as green as possible.  You are welcome to tie a small DD type lightweight tarp over the firepit in wet weather.

Please NO plastic tables or wheelbarrows.

GLADE FIELD CAMPING is better suited for larger tents and the field houses our two donkeys.  There are a few Firepits dotted about, and you will hear owls calling above.  The sunsets are beautiful.  There are five pitches in the Glade Field, and we allow up to six people per pitch.  For group bookings, please contact Becky on thewildmanwoods@hotmail.com or 07974 684604.

There are no restrictions on tent size or amount of kit and a wheelbarrow is available for your use.

SAFARI TENTS – we have two that are situated beside the river in a secluded woodland and are available from April till October.  These have a full camp kitchen, firepit and log seats.  The Safari Tent accommodates two adults and up to three children.  Sorry, we do allow dogs in our tents.

SMALL VANS – we have two small gravel areas that can accommodate small vans.

FACILITIES – we have a small hut by the lake that houses two toilets and a shower.  We also have two compost toilets in the woodland.

There are washing up facilities behind the hut.

FIREPITS – Wood for the firepits can be purchased for £7 for a large sack.  Could we please ask that you pay cash for the wood.  It is sold at cost.  Due to the spread of disease, you cannot bring your own.  We ask that these are left clean.

Small snappy twigs can be foraged from the woodland floor but not large logs (as the dead fall is needed for the natural cycle of plants). However there are other areas on the farm where wood can be collected, if prearranged and shown where.

BBQ’s – the Firepits have grills or you can bring your own barbecue.  We do not allow disposables as this goes against our ethos.

LOCAL PRODUCE – farm eggs are occasionally available and please embrace bringing ethical free range /outdoor bred food especially meat that’s had a good life.  The nearest local shop is a good 20 minute drive away, so we do recommend you bring what you need and there is access to a fridge in the farmhouse.

SPRING WATER – there is a natural spring on the site and the water is delicious.  So, please bring empty bottles.

Thanking you in advance for your understanding and appreciation of our rewilding and sustainable ethos.

River Sawdde

The River Sawdde is a beautiful fast flowing river that is perfect for a cooling dip, plus you can wash your hair - it will be super soft from the spring water, and you'll never feel more alive!

Camp washing up is a breeze while paddling! (The kids will be “fighting “to wash up in the river with a bit of moss and grit/sand to use as a scourer.)
